Private, in a way you can verify
"We care about your privacy" is what every tool says. Here's the mechanical version instead: on the free plan, the Whisper speech model downloads to your browser once (40–250MB depending on the model you pick, then cached), and transcription runs on your own hardware — GPU-accelerated where the browser supports it, a slower universal mode where it doesn't. During transcription there are zero network calls. Open the network tab and watch, or switch off Wi-Fi after the model loads — it keeps transcribing. The audio file never has anywhere to go.
That architecture is also why there's no cap and no signup: your audio never touches our servers, so more of it costs us nothing, and there's no account needed to meter you with.

Why is unlimited free — what's the catch?
Transcription runs on your own device, so our costs don't grow with your usage. Pro exists for people who want cloud speed, top accuracy and Study Packs.
How long can the audio be?
WAV files: unlimited — we test with 2-hour files. Compressed formats (MP3/M4A): up to an hour for now, longer support coming.
How do I know it's really private?
Verify it yourself: open your browser's network tab while transcribing — after the model downloads, there are zero network requests. Or switch off Wi-Fi mid-file; it keeps going. On the free plan the audio physically never leaves your computer.
What can I upload?
Audio files (WAV any length; MP3/M4A up to 1 hour each) and video files — the audio track is extracted and transcribed.
Which languages work?
The free local model is strongest in clear English. Pro cloud mode handles 90+ languages, accents and noisy audio much better.
Does it work on my phone?
